About Us

Purpose in Every Play. Legacy in Every Step.

At O Town Hustle, we don’t just train athletes—we build leaders. Rooted in faith and forged in the legacy of the DMV, our mission is to shape character, elevate families, and honor the game through elite basketball culture. Every chant, every drill, every devotional is designed to ignite purpose in the hearts of young players and the communities they represent.

We believe hustle is more than effort—it’s a lifestyle. It’s showing up with integrity, pushing through adversity, and leading with love. Whether you’re a mini Hustler just learning the ropes or a seasoned baller chasing college dreams, O Town Hustle is your home court for growth.

“True hustle isn’t loud—it’s the quiet grind that builds legacy when no one’s clapping.”

founder/ Director

Mike Freeman

Michael Freeman is a visionary coach, creative director, and legacy builder whose journey through the DMV and Philadelphia basketball circuits laid the foundation for O Town Hustle—a faith-driven youth program rooted in pride, purpose, and elite player development.

Raised in basketball-rich environments, Michael was mentored by legends like Larry Stewart, Reggie Isaac, and Hank Gathers, and competed against future stars including Delonte West, Lamar Butler, and Mike Sweetney. He played AAU for the historic Buffalo Soldiers program in Maryland, teaming with standouts like NBA champion James White and Levi Watkins, and later starred at Largo High School under four-time state champion Rodney Ward.

Michael continued his career at Norwich University (NCAA DIII), where he averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds as a freshman before a career-ending concussion shifted his path toward coaching. He also played in Philadelphia’s iconic Sonny Hill League, suiting up for Temple coach John Chaney and teaming with John Cox and Mardy Collins.

His coaching journey includes leading youth leagues at Lawcrest Recreation Center, mentoring players like Cameron Ward of Michigan State, and working with high school athletes in Philadelphia’s Timoteto League. Certified by NBA champion trainer Phil Handy through the 94 Feet of Game program, Michael brings elite-level instruction, spiritual mentorship, and creative leadership to every session.

O Town Hustle blends fundamentals, faith, and city pride—empowering kids ages 6–11 to grow as athletes and leaders while honoring overlooked basketball legacies.

Faith-Driven Values

Built on Faith, Fueled by Purpose

At O Town Hustle, faith is more than a belief—it’s the foundation of everything we do. We train athletes to lead with conviction, humility, and heart. Our practices begin with prayer, our curriculum includes devotionals, and our culture reflects the teachings of Christ: discipline, service, and love for others.

We believe that true greatness starts within. That’s why we focus on character before clout, purpose before performance. Whether on the court or in the classroom, our players learn to hustle with integrity, respect, and spiritual strength.

Faith isn’t a side note—it’s our playbook.

DMV Roots

Where Legacy Meets Hustle

O Town Hustle was born from the soul of the DMV—Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia—a region known for its rich basketball history, cultural pride, and relentless energy. Our program reflects the grit, grind, and greatness that define this community.

We honor the legends who came before us: the Buffalo Soldiers AAU teams, the streetball icons, and the coaches who built empires from blacktops and rec centers. Their stories live on in our chants, our drills, and our devotionals.

Our roots run deep. Our hustle runs proud. And every young athlete who joins us becomes part of a legacy that stretches far beyond the final buzzer.
